Course Prerequisites

Prior to the course, providers must be proficient in the following:

  • Performing high-quality BLS skills through the use of the 2020 AHA Guidelines

  • Reading and interpreting electrocardiograms (ECGs)

  • Understanding PALS drugs

  • Bag-mask ventilations

  • Complete mandatory PALS pre-course self assessment test

Intended Audience: The ACLS Provider Course is designed for healthcare providers who either direct or participate in the management of cardiopulmonary arrest or other cardiovascular emergencies. Upon successful completion of the course, students receive a course completion card, valid for two years.

Course Content

  • High-quality Child CPR AED and Infant CPR

  • Recognition of patients who do and do not require immediate intervention

  • Recognition of cardiopulmonary arrest early and application of CPR within 10 seconds

  • Apply team dynamics

  • Differentiation between respiratory distress and failure

  • Early interventions for respiratory distress and failure

  • Differentiation between compensated and decompensated (hypotensive) shock

  • Early interventions for the treatment of shock

  • Differentiation between unstable and stable patients with arrhythmias

  • Clinical characteristics of instability in patients with arrhythmias

  • Post–cardiac arrest management

Certification: AHA 2020 PALS Provider Course Completion eCard valid for 2 years.
